Lt. William Lebo, 63, was shot dead responding to the call after 40 years of service and just a month away from retirement, Mayor Capello said.

The shooting happened at a home in the 1100 block of Forest Street in Lebanon shortly before 4:30 p.m., county officials say.

Travis Shaud, 34, had broken into the home and was armed with multiple weapons, Capello says.

Two other officers who were shot remain in area hospitals— Derek Underkoffler is in critical condition and the Ryan Adams is in stable condition, officials said at the conference.

Officials continue to investigate this incident.
